Camping Near Michigan International Speedway – NASCAR Weekend

The Groves of Michigan offers both electric and rustic camping directly across from Michigan International Speedway. Our rustic camping and vendor areas are across Brooklyn Road from the MIS grandstands and Fan Plaza, and our main electric campground is approximately a 10–15 minute walk from the Speedway. Other camping options in the area include camping operated by Michigan International Speedway and other private campgrounds.

Our rustic area is directly across Brooklyn Road from the MIS Grandstands and Fan Plaza. Using the pedestrian bridges it is about a 5 minute walk from our vendor area. For the electric sites in the main campground, it is about a 10 minute walk to the vendor area. The walk from the main campground to Fan Plaza at the Speedway is roughly 10-15 minutes depending on where your site is. Campers staying in the main campground are allowed to drive their cars to close to the vendor area if they want.

No it is a private campground owned by a family - not a big corporation. The current owners bought the campground in 2023.

When the Speedway was built, the Groves (Juniper Hills at the time) was the main campground providing camping during MIS events. It had over 3,000 campsites in its heyday.

Most definitely. In fact, there are very few places closer to park than our property to go to the Grandstands or to Fan Plaza. If you are staying in the electric area and don't want to walk up to the vendor area, we allow you to come drive up closer to the vendor area so that your walk is shorter.

Yes, the main campground at the Groves has 340 electric sites. The vast majority of them also have water hookups. The sites are in open grassy areas as well as wooded areas, so take your pick! We have both 30 amp and 50 amp sites.

Yes, the rustic sites are directly across from the grandstand and Fan Plaza. It's a great view and very convenient for walking to the Speedway.

You can reserve a site with just a $50 deposit until May 1st. All balances are due in full by May 1st.

Your NASCAR reservation includes the following:

• Electric or Rustic campsite from Monday to Monday
• Wristbands for up to 4 people (up to 4 additional wristbands can be purchased per site)
• One vehicle pass. If you are bringing a motorhome, you are allowed a second vehicle in addition to the motorhome
• Access to showerhouse

If you cancel before May 1st, you will get a refund for anything over $50 that you have paid - the cancellation is $50. If you cancel after May 1st, there are no refunds.

Yes, we allow tents and car camping in both our rustic and our electrical sites.

Yes, an RV site can have 1 RV plus 1 tent. State law does not allow 2 RVs on one site. If you are not bringing an RV, your site can have 2 tents. All RVs and tents and the included vehicle must all be able to fit in your site's space.

Your reservation price includes up to 4 people. You can buy up to 4 additional wristbands for people. State law limits the number of people on a camp site to 8. Note that if you are going to have 8 people, it often makes sense to just buy 2 sites since you will get an additional parking pass as well and it is often cheaper to do 2 sites than one with extra people and an extra vehicle - plus it doubles your space!

Most of our electric sites are over the typical campsite size of 30*40. Some are as big as 40 * 60.

For the rustic area, the premium sites are 50 feet long and either 25 or 30 feet wide.

Regular rustic sites are 30 * 30.

Yes, you can reserve sites together by letting us know a group name or who some of the parties are in your reservation under the notes section. Everyone in the group will need to be staying in the same type of site - for example, electric sites and rustic sites can't be mixed for a group to stay together.

Yes, the Groves rents RVs - most of them are on seasonal sites and some even have decks. The price for rentals typically falls between $1,500 and $2,000 INCLUDING the site for up to 4 people. If you want to camp for NASCAR and don't own a tent, we have a fleet of tents to sleep from roughly 2 to 6 people. The cost for the site plus tent rental depends on whether you want electricity or not and how many people there will be, but a site plus a tent rental starts at less than $300 for the week. And we have showers - so all is good!

Yes, people can use generators in the rustic camp sites. They can be used overnight as long as they are quiet and not disturbing the neighbors. Don't place a generator too close to your RV or any other RVs on other sites.

Yes, you can bring up to two dogs to camp during NASCAR. Each dog is $30 for the event. Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times and you need to bring proof of rabies vaccination with you.

We open for NASCAR week and allow campers in on Monday at noon. Campers are allowed to stay until the following Monday at noon. If the Sunday race is run on Monday due to bad weather, people can stay (at no additional charge) until Tuesday at noon. If you would like to come early or stay later, you can pay for additional days by contacting us.

Yes, you can arrive any day from Monday on. Many people don't arrive until Thursday or Friday. We will hold your assigned campsite for you until you arrive.

The Groves has two dump stations as well as a daily pump out service.

The majority of our electric sites do have water. The sites in our park area do not have water hookups but there is access to fill up (but not stay hooked up) via hose from spigots across the street.

Yes, we do have 30 amp and 50 amp sites. While the majority of our sites are 30 amp we do have a few dozen 50 amp sites. When you make your reservation, you will reserve a 30 amp site and let us know if you need a 50 amp site and we will include an upcharge on your invoice if the 50 amp is available. We typically have enough 50 amp sites to accommodate everyone looking for one.

Yes, the Groves offers porta potty rentals for $150 which includes the final pumpout. If you make a reservation, you will be able to add a porta potty prior to the event.

Yes, you can have a campfire at your site but you will need to bring a fire ring or rent a fire ring from us.

Yes, the Groves sells firewood and we deliver it to your site. You will be able to order firewood in advance, at check in, or throughout your stay.

Yes, you can bring a golf cart to the Groves for NASCAR camping. The golf cart permit is $25 and you must provide proof of liability insurance on it.

There is no driving after dark except to return to your site from an event.

Yes, the Groves has a shower house in the main campground. People staying in the rustic area can come use the shower house.

No, campsites do not have picnic tables or firepits. We rent a limited number of picnic tables and firepits and you will be able to reserve these prior to the event.

Yes, but if you are above the 4 person limit for the site, the guests will need to buy a wristband. Both event and daily wristband options are available. The guest will also need a daily parking pass if they are coming in a vehicle.

Yes, the quiet hours during NASCAR week for Thursday through Sunday nights are from midnight until 8:00 am. We have a rustic area for people that know they may want to be a little louder after midnight - the quiet hours in this area begin at 2:00 a.m.. If you have kids and want a quieter area, just let us know and we will get you into an area where it tends to be quieter earlier in the evening (where more seasonal campers are).

If you are looking for the chaotic, crazy, party-hearty environment of something like the infield at the Speedway, the Groves is probably not the right fit for you.
